Painting therapy (according to the method “Light, Darkness and Colours”)
>The “Light, Darkness and Colours” method was developed by the painter Liane Collot d’Herbois, who in collaboration with Dr. Ita Wegman laid the foundation for art therapy based on the image of the tripartite human being in the sense of the anthroposophical medicine.
This therapeutic work offers a concrete and tangible access to the original forces that structure the human being and maintain the balance between health and illness. By using simple artistic means, this therapy enables us to work concretely on our self-transformation by becoming inwardly active. A working method that awakes in us the power of the soul to see with new eyes, to feel with new enthusiasm. It mobilizes in us a certain inclination to play, to discover and to search. Through dedication, care and loving artistic, work we can open ourselves to the beneficial and health-promoting influence of colour, light, darkness/warmth. The ego becomes the true creator of all healing and transformation, when it is brought into the light.
What are the forces of darkness/warmth, light and colour?
Darkness/Warmth as supreme principle, mother of all substances, cosmic sympathy that flows out, supports and embraces, carrier of warmth, love and gravity.
Light is cosmic antipathy, which brings the impulse for form, order and direction into darkness and creates space and consciousness.
And finally, the wonderful world of colour, the result of constant, living encounter of light and darkness. It acts therapeutically in a movement that can be experienced with the awakened powers of the soul.
A triad of universal forces that work in the cosmos and that we can recognize in daily life, in subjective manifestation. Starting points for an exciting discovery of ourselves as microcosm in the macrocosm. Each healing process can be supported by specific exercises. Positive effects on the powers of memory, imagination, concentration and attention are noticeable. More vitality, enthusiasm, decision-making power and confidence in one’s own abilities and resources are emerging.
