Therapeutic sculpting – awakening creative powers

Therapeutic sculpting is an art therapy of the anthroposophical medicine. Diagnostics and interventions are based on Rudolf Steiner’s study of the human being and Goethe’s phenomenology. The sculpting person experiences being intensively in action and finds suggestions to explore new spaces by modelling. Plastic design brings imagination, experience and action into a living interplay and serves the development path to human freedom and recovery.

By kneading and shaping the clay, the creators enter into dialogue with the inert material and experience their own creative will. The solidifying inclinations in body and soul are supplied with invigorating transformation forces. The patient combines the therapeutic creative activity with the dynamic forces of expansion and concentration, lightness and heaviness, rest and movement. Depending on the series of exercises, which is adapted to the specific situation of the patient, the therapy helps to strengthen the concentration powers or it can transform the narrowed, faltering into the lively dynamic. The confrontation with the forces of heaviness and their overcoming gives inner support and security and the courage to act is strengthened. Positive liberating effects on body and soul can be noticed in everyday life.
